Although winter is a time when there are fewer plants in flower, I am fortunate that there always seems to be something flowering in my garden, for most of the year.
Daisies seem to flower all year long. There are so many varied colours and they just seem to grow with little or no attention. Some also self seed, which is another bonus.
The crucifix orchard is another plant that always seems to be in flower. Again, another plant that requires no attention. Mine are mainly orange, but the red ones are building up in number.
Another orange flower in my garden in winter, is the Bird of Paradise or Strelitzia. The flowers are quite spectacular. This is yet another plant that needs no extra watering and just looks after itself. All I have to do is trim the flower stalks when flowering has finished.
The photos below from my garden are all taken during winter.
